The photo of me kilted that brings back the most memories is this one, taken immediately after my Father-in-Law's funeral, at which I piped.

I respected and adored that man, verging on worship. An Infantry officer in WWII who fought through South Pacific jungles and helped liberate the Phillipines, Bronze Star, Purple Heart; an extremely intelligent man who was widely travelled and spoke a number of languages (after the war he became an Intelligence officer); a onetime semipro and Minor League pro baseball player; a long carreer as an aerospace engineer; a deeply religious and spiritual man.

Like many great men he was reserved and humble and it was difficult to get him to talk about himself, but over the span of 25 years of knowing him I was able to pry out this and that.

Anyhow I don't seem to have a photo of his funeral itself but this was taken afterward:

My most Memorable Kilt picture this year would have to be the X Mark's meet up at the 2012 Stone Mt. games

Not this picture, posing on the edge of the North Rim of the Grand Canyon...

But this picture - laying in a pile on the edge of a very long drop to eternity after stumbling while dismounting from the "safety" wall I'd been standing on...

Still have some scars from those scrub oaks that kept me topside...but grateful they did.
