Standing Council of Scottish Chief's web site...
For your perusal, the new web site for the Standing Council of Scottish Chiefs:

    http://www.clanchiefs.org/main.html

Some very good information here, especially regarding heraldry and tartans.

    Cheers, (B)

Once again, I am left wondering if there is a Stewart clan, and if so, who its chief is. This site states, "It is generally accepted that the Earls of Galloway now head the principal house of this great name."

There is, as far as I can tell, no member of this Council representing Clan Stewart, although the site does list a chief - Johnny Dumphries! - as the chief of Stuart of Bute.

Elsewhare I read that Queen Elizabeth II is the head of the House of Stuart, but can no longer find the reference.

    See:

http://www.clansstewart.org/index.htm (Clan Stuart Society of North America)

You might address your question to the Stewart Society, as they seem to be "the" organization for Stewarts, since the CSSNA is affiliated with them.
