Newbie alert!
Hi Guys
I'm brand new to the forum, this is my first thread (and post come to think of it!) just thought i'd introduce myself
I've lived in London all my life, I was born here so I'm not Scottish but I really enjoy wearing my kilt, I first bought one a few months ago as I thought they looked smart and dignified plus i'd always wanted to try one on and my girlfriend assured me I have the legs for it (I think she has another motive here that shes not telling me about) so I bought one from Ebay and I wear it as often as I can get away with, which is not as often as I'd like :( Its a plain black design not tartan but people still ask if you're Scottish and when you say 'No' they give you a look that says "Then why on earth are you wearing that?" I suppose they can't be blamed as a Kilt is a thing entirely assosiated with scotland in most peoples mind (oh if only we could change that) I find I can only wear it to family dos, formal parties and weddings, I'd love to wear it in the street but I don't have the confidence yet, is there anyone else on the forum from London? I'd love to know how people react to you when you wear a kilt out. I suspect its the same reaction I get, raised eyebrows!!
Anyway, sorry for the long thread but I get carried away with these things  I'm really glad to have found this forum and I hope I have many happy posts ahead of me :)

Wecome from the Windy City! And I am not sure (my lack of world geography showing!) but I think Hamish is somewhere within a reasonable drive from you and has never had any problems with wearing a kilt in the UK, even wearing a UK in the UK!

Scotland has made tremendous contributions to Brittania (and the world for that matter). Wearing your kilt is a nice acknowledgement of that fact.
