    Family Support
Yesterday I was hanging out with the family, just having a lazy sat afternoon Kind of day. I mentioned I was going to either be purchasing or making a kilt to start wearing a kilt for special occasions. Well one of my sisters asked why I wanted to wear a skirt. Which started a whole conversation about our heritage and being Irish Spanish. As I had stated in my first post in the newbie section, where I live a lot of machismo attitude reflects the way we think around here, so she always says the wrong thing. However my eldest sister had already known of a guy who wears kilts daily. She thought it was a great idea and wanted to get a kilt of her own. She wants me to make it for her. My brother in-laws were also interested however It will take a few beers and a lost wager to get them into a kilt anytime soon. But for the most part they all agreed they cant wait to see my first kilt.

Hello abaort cav, only macho guys wear kilts so you go for it. Hope you do make your own kilt. The best of luck and welcome to the forum.

While we don't need permission from others to wear the kilt, it's always nice to know that family members will support us -- even if some of them may not always understand. Good on you for sharing the family history with them and good on them for listening. :toast:

I will wager that your brothers-in-law will want kilts of their own when they see how good you look in yours (and how much positive attention it gets from the ladies  ).

The kilt has a way of winning converts so I'd say you're off to a pretty good start. Just wear it like it was the most natural thing in the world (it is) and eventually those around you will begin to treat it that way.

Have your eldest sister check e-bay for her kilts. My wife has 4 bought from there, including our family tartan, and none cost more than $25. Congrats on the familial support.
