    Quick raid
Yesterday we decided at the last moment a quick raid for a pub lunch at our favourite haunt and a little stroll after to see the train on the Brecon Mountain Railway.
A few pics from the walk after the pub..
The countryside was again in lush colour

The steam train unfortunately was in for a days maintenance in readyness for this Bank Holiday Monday, but they put their diesel engine on to keep the line running. Didnt realise I had captured the two ravens over the trees which had been croaking and floating around

After the train left the station and everyone was back on board, this little fella was soon out of the woods and tucking in to his evening meal

Then the last bus back home and a quick bevy on route

Great pictures, Derek. I love the squirrel! (He seems to do well on other people’s toss-outs!)
The diesel is most interesting, as it seems to be a direct traction engine, rather than the now standard diesel-electric.
    Marvellous scenery!
    Regards,
    Mike

Come and see a real railway sometime Derek

The Pontypool and Blaenafon has a pub at one end though only open at lunchtimes on a Sunday or Bank Holiday.

And there is a rumour that the chap in the ticket office wears the kilt!

Where is this, exactly? It looks so much like my neighborhood in Tacoma, Washington, USA.

I am currently in the process of getting some pictures together showing this highly intelligent chap in kilted action on the railway.

Waiting for copies of pictures taken last weekend by our "official" photographer and then they will be shared Derek.
