Those members of this forum who have visited Caprington Castle will recall his friendly character when he would welcome you as family. The Captain was also well known for his service with the Royal Scots Greys, before, during and after World War II including action at El Alamein and was well respected in farming and hunting circles. There was a large turnout for a Memorial Service in Thanksgiving for his life held at Holy Trinity Scottish Episcopal Church in Kilmarnock following his burial on Thursday. Family, friends, clans people, farmers, the horse and hounds fraternity, representatives of his old regiment etc.

The Cunningham tartan is rather garish and normally I would prefer to wear my all black or Black Watch kilt to a funeral service, however I had asked his widow beforehand whether the Cunningham tartan would be appropriate and a number of people thanked me for wearing this on the day. In this photo my black Argyle jacket is covered by a black padded anorak due to the cold weather.

Kilmarnock also happens to be the town where my mother was born and in common with many Scottish towns it boasts a kilt shop.......

.......and a statue of Rabbie Burns.
Here Burns has to share his plinth. He stands back to back with a statue of John Wilson the printer from Kilmarnock who published The Kilmarnock Edition of Burns works and there are also two busts on the same plinth.
That's all folks.
