a neat jacket- for trim members only
Here is a jacket that some X Marker could probably wear with a kilt straight from a non-kilt retailer.

It is made of moleskin and it is on sale. I do not have one- can't wear a 40- but I believe based on the model's arm length that it would do nicely with a kilt for daywear. I think the color is perfect for many hunting or ancient tartans. $140, more or less, and you may be able to use a coupon to reduce the price further....

It may be a little too funky for strictly THCD, but I like it.

Have you done a jacket conversion in Ultrasuede, yet, MacLowlife?

Hmm, size 38 would fit me just fine. I do like this jacket, but I'm thinking the body is just a tad too long for kilt wear. I might like to have it, though, for normal (trousered) office wear! Thanks for the link.

I have looked at ultrasuede, but it often feels stiff- and I have seen some strange deterioration of synthetic suede over time. I think moleskin is more reliable, if not quite as soft. IMHO, the very best would be goat suede, which turns up now and then.

I have a Harris Tweed conversion that was done by some previous owner and a rusty colored linen one that was done for me. The linen one goes well with tartans that don't have any red in them. It doesn't have any vents at all and is minimally constructed otherwise- with some inner facing in the lapels and none elsewhere. It has open patch pockets. In the SC heat, it is just the thing.

Tobus, I look forward to hearing your results. The jacket looks to me to be midway between a "regular" Saxon jacket that covers the posterior and a kilt cut Argyll, but all I have to go on is the length of the sleeves for reference.

Ya, I have a couple of what I think is ultrasuede jackets, and there is an odd deterioration that goes on; have to vacuum them sometimes.
