    Awaiting my first tartan kilt!
Last year I picked up one of the 5.11 Kilts, (after years of pining for a kilt). After a few months I'd added a pair of Stumptown Kilts to my wardrobe and wore them late into fall. I've been longing for a tartan but it just hasn't quite happened. My birthday is in a couple weeks so my wife told me this morning we were all taking a little ride to USA Kilts (just down the road from us) and I got sized for a casual kilt, it'll be in the Holyrood tartan. I even picked up a sporran in anticipation, and am having to resist the urge to wear it with my Stumptown kilt, hehe. I still need to get a kilt belt, but I'm hoping that the funds will be available around the time the kilt is ready (early March.)

Anyhow, just wanted to share the excitement with people who understand.

    Peace!

Absolutely understood. I'm sure you'll like wearing tartan, and Rocky is infamous for quality, service, and price - all at once!

I've been there a few times, poking around wishing to buy, but not able. Rocky (and the rest of the staff) are always a class act, just good people in general. Being able to see some of their product in person there's no doubt of the quality, and like you said the prices are solid. I'm glad we have a company like this, and I'm incredibly fortunate that they're veritably next door to me.

You're well on the path to traditional kilt wearing, and I welcome you to it!

Holyrood is a beautiful and distinctive tartan.

I'm very much looking forward to having something a bit more traditional. Though I must admit, I'm not quite sure I'll ever make it all the way. I'm more a boots than brogues kind of person.

Well then! Things might be getting quite traditional at times! Though certainly there will also be some, Rowdy Roddy Piper style: boots, kilt and T-shirt, this summer.

Yes, but they’re decent, cleaned, shined, not halfway up to your backside, and not designed to put all the attention away from the magnificent kilt. In this photo, they’re also in an appropriate setting for boots.
