What's worse than a newbie with a question?
Hello all, I've read the forums for some time but never really thought I had anything worthwhile to say. So I've recently decided to speak up and try meeting some people rather than always lurking. So hello everyone, I was wondering if any of you could help me with a decision. I have a original Utilikilt, and I've ordered a Bear kilt (which I keep hearing great things about). Problem is, the Bear kilt isn't here yet (I understand they're worth the wait) and I have the money to spend on two more kilts. I'm just not sure if I should order another Bear kilt blind, try a Canada kilt, or if there are other tartaned casual kilts out there worth looking at. I like the kilts that sit more like a pair of Levi's rather than the traditional kilts that sit at your belly button. Any information anyone can offer would be appreciated. Thank you in advance.

After seeing the USA Kilts first hand at the Mid-Atlantic Celtic fest and talking to Rocky and Kelly for a bit, I'd recommend their philabeg. I've got one on order and can hardly wait. Their turn around is less and they answer e-mails within 2 days on questions. I have an Amerikilt that fits like you're looking; solid color, weight of material is about like dockers pants and their great for hiking if you're looking for one of those type.

Let me add my welcome. This is a great bunch of guys (and a few ladies) here. They will answer most anything you want to know about kilt makers, kilts and kilt accessories. As for Bear, Rocky and all the rest of the kilt makers who frequent the forums, You will not find a more professional or helpful bunch.

Welcome IrishBLE, glad you decided to jump in.
We have a few good kiltmakers who support this forum, I have kilts from Bear, USA Kilts and recently R Kilts, and can say they all make great and affordable kilts.
I do recommend you see the kilt when it arrives before buying another, that way you can be more informed as to what you like and don't like about the kilt before ordering more.
I have 10 kilts, they all have strengths and weaknesses. Much depends on what you like.
For sure, you'll get good and balanced advice here, it's the best place to start. All here are passionate about kilts.

I too want to add my WELCOME to this place of knowledge. You do have a question that most of us keep asking ourselves, which one next? Just keep reading the comments and go for what you feel comfortable with. It does keep getting more intense with every time you wear the kilt-don't you just love it?
Again welcome

Welcome Irish,
And, welcome to your new addiction
You have the call of the kilt addict down pat already, "I have some money and wanna know what kilt to buy next." (I'm waiting for #24 and #25 to arrive, a UK basil survival and a hand sewn tank, Macdonald of Kingsburgh, from Kathy's Kilts).
I recommend surfing for what you want/need then double checking on the reputation of the kiltmaker.
Do ya wanna wear the kilt for rough work, office work, hiking, dress up, etc. What tartans are available in the "non-wool" fabrics that fit your ancestry, etc.
You also already have figured out the other basic of kilt addiction....the only thing that will medicate a kilt jones is to buy another kilt while you're waiting.
Welcome aboard,
