Kilted in Seattle
I've been lurking for a few days checking things out and figured I'd go ahead and make an official appearance. It just so happens to coincide with my first day wearing a kilt to work (and only the third time wearing one at all).
I was actually married in a rented kilt, and while it didn't seem to fit quite right, I vowed that one day I would try wearing one again. At the highland games last Saturday near Seattle I decided to go for a trial run and picked up an inexpensive casual style camo kilt. Wore it the next day which was unfortunately a day spent primarily in the car and made for quite a bit of ironing later.
Sitting down is taking some getting used to, but I think I'm making a decent go of it. It is nice having that small fan under my desk on a hot day though. Managed to check out the *** end in the restroom mirror not long ago and it appears the pleats are holding out ok. From what I understand that is less of a worry with the traditional wool variety. I'm looking forward to getting one of them eventually (going to go with the same Innes tartan that my dad wears).
Before that I think I'll pick up a couple of the polyviscose types so I can have a variety to choose from. I'm not yet sure I like the Utilikilt style yet; seems more like Roman Gladiator skirt to me. Anyhow... hello everyone.

welcome aboard! Nice to have another kilted member.
Not sure who you have, or have lined up, to try for P-V material, but Bear and USAKilts have good stuff, from what I hear.

Yeah, Bear And USAKilts are the two I've been looking at the most. Hopefully I should be able to order a new kilt within a few weeks. I'm looking forward to it. Thanks for the welcome!

Both Bear and USAK are good choices. I think USA has less of a wait time though.

And that's exactly why I like them.
What's important is that we have a lot of choices, and more coming almost every week.
Wear what you like!

WELCOME to the band of kilted lovers! You have made excellent choices with both Bear and USA Kilts. My advise get them both, might as well jump into them full throttle.

iowa to seattle.
I'm actually going to be moving to seattle in a few months (it seems much more my style of a place)! Glad to see at least one more person in that area that'll be wearing kilts (other then my roommate). Maybe we'll bump into one another some day.Oh,and welcome to the group!

Oh, there are plenty of kilt wearers around Seattle. I see them all the time. Now I can include myself.

Welcome...
If you live in Seattle you'll find that an extra Utilikilt makes a great cape too. Just snap it up and put your head through, presto....a rain cape.
Great Port and Starboard glasses!

Thanks for the welcome (everyone)!
We Seattleites doan need no steenkin cover from de rain! ;) But seriously, a lot of us just walk around in it without much cover because it's usually just light sprinkling. (Not that we've had much rain at all lately).
Lake Powell, AZ eh? I lived in Mesa/Chandler for about 17 years. My folks still live there. My dad is involved with setting up the clan tents at the Caledonian Society of Arizona highland games they hold each year at MCC.
