My 1st kilted outing
I had my first outing in my new SWK nightstalker today. I got home from work this morning, and wanted to see how the kilt worked with various articles of clothing hanging in the closet. After giving a few combinations the nod I stayed in the kilt. My day was spent knocking around the house doing some easy projects, but aroung 2:30 I realized I needed to run out to the hardware store, and to the local outdoor/audibon museum to pick up a gift to send to my fiances niece in Japan. Being that I was properly, though somewhat casually dressed I hopped in the truck and off I went.
Now, I'd like to clarify if I might. This was what I'd consider my first kilted outing, though I did wear it Monday night when I walked the dog. Today, however, I didn't wear it under the cover of darkness.
The combination I choose was a bit casual. I paired the kilt up with a dark blue pull over work shirt from the firehouse, regular wool hiking socks pushed down, with a pair of uplander moc-toe hunting boots, and my rob-roy sporran. The weather dictated that I wore my black wool jacket and a hat too.
After hitting the ATM, and Dunkies for a coffee, a nice girl in the parking lot yelled happy St. Patrickday to me. At the guy at the hardware store hardly seemed to notice, and at the museum gift shop the girls just smiled and were polite as if I was any other customer, which really I was.
It was a bit breezy, so I thought I might have a problem there, but the wind never even came close to lifting my kilt to any significant hieght.
Anyway, I'd have to say it was a pleasant experience.
