    Weekend outing

We tossed some equipment in the truck and took a short drive up the canyon Sunday to escape the heat. Splashed around in the creek, ran some gravel through the sluice box (haven't had a chance to pan the concentrates yet) & just had a fun day in the mountains.

One of the locals who came out of the mine to get a drink & hang-out with us.

Screening large rock out of the gravel.

Running gravels through the sluice to concentrate heavy materials.

And Kim modeling her new chainmail bikini top for those who had been waiting.

    John,

My son and daughter ( 6 & 3 1/2 years old) loved the bat picture!

You know what I really like about these types of pictures? They show how normal Kilt wearing actually is, isn't it great?

I searched for pictures of bats found in Utah & think it may be one of these two.

    Little brown myotis (Myotis Lucifugus)
    or California myotis (Myotis Californicus)

It was quite interesting to watch him. He'd slowly circle us a few times then as slowly and gracefully as a butterfly, he'd glide down & get a quick drink from the surface of the water just a few feet from me. Then he'd fly away to his roost in the old mine or to the cliff wall next to us where he'd just hang & watch us.

Oh and with a bat around, none of us returned home with even one mosquito bite.

A good selection of all round interest there, great scenery, interesting bat, nice looking lady. Will be interested to hear if you find any gold.

Ended up with a tiny bit of really fine dust & a couple of larger specks of gold. Oh well, it's always fun to go play in the mud like an overgrown kid anyway.

Every little speck counts - collect enough of them and you will achieve a worthwhile amount.
