Did you ever just have a bad day and want to scream?
ok where to begin .......I ran my fool @$$ off on shift...5 transports ... last one ending at 0630..it would have been sooner but we had to drive about 15 miles out of the way due to flooding to get back to the firehouse
on the way back I realise my cell phone is missing........it was at the scene of the call .....mind you its been raining for the past 2 hours since i lost it needless to say it was half in half out of a puddle so ....I need a new phone.
I get home and the swamp cooler's berrings (sp) burnt up ......no cooler other things happend too but not as significant.......
but i still need a new phone. I got one of those black berrys today to replace it, but its not what i want due to the fact that if I want to use it fr anything other than SMS(Txt mssg.) or phone I have to pay an extra 20.00 a month! its going back tomorrow (I wouldnt have bought it but the guy at the store (T-mobile) said " oh yeah you can bluetooth your pics onto it" ( you cant) I asked about MP3 ringtones "oh yeah this is the best Blackberry on the market! it does that" (it doesnt) hell I cant even access the T-mobile website from it like I could with my old phone to DL wallpapers ringtones ect. ( not like its the end all be all to be able to do that but its a creature comfort ) without paying the 20.00 ! I would like to have a PDA so I can keep track of the 3 jobs, kiddos Dr. Appts, bills, fire training dates, .....kilt nights ECT. that a little pocket calender doesnt cut it! and ...well you see what happend carrying ONE electronic device imagine me carryin TWO so a PDA phone seemed like a good idea.....anyone have experince with this kind of phone? Ive been lookin on Ebay and they have treo' by sony, and the HP IPAC on there.....but I dont want to pay more than 120.00 ....anyone have a "hook up they wouldnt mind sharing? ....let me know PLEASE!!!!!
Scott ...thinking if everyone goes through cell phones like I do ...maybe I should buy stock in motorola!

...eh...we just renewed our plan and got new phones. Somehow the old phones (which were Motorola) are supposed to be screwing up Cingular's system and they were happy to have us retire them and waived the fees for the new phones...nice.
I read somewhere recently that everything is negotiable with these phone companies...don't recall where I read this article, wish I could...and that the clerks actually have major discretion to exchange phones, waive fees and replace damaged phones for free or cheap. Sounds like you have a great case on the previous phone since it was lost in the line of duty, so to speak. So if you're going back, I'd try to get around the guy who gave you all of the misinformation and talk to the head honcho...failing that, I'd get on the phone with the company and see if you can get a better deal.
I understand the blackberry/pda thing but I personally feel that folks who have these wonderful things spend more time at work than they do at work as a result...my wife won't get one because she figures that when whe's through for the day, she's through and doesn't want emergency e-mails cutting into her personal time and family life. Your situation is different, I guess, and there are several phones that I've seen that aren't blackberries but are made to facilitate text messaging (qwerty keyboards instead of trying to message with the regular phone buttons). The really nice and smart and helpful young woman that I dealt with at Cingular informed me that there was a thirty day trial period on the phones that I took and they'd take them back no questions asked and do a deal for anything else that I felt might serve me better...I would think that your company would have the same deal and if they don't I would point out that their competitor DOES and how do they plan to compete with that?
What's interesting right now is "unlocked phones" that you can buy and put the phone company's SIM card in and it runs.
My advice is: haggle!
Best

Ooooooooh Treo Is El Diablo!
I can provide a wee bit of opinion on this one.
I had a Treo for a few months (made by Palm, not Sony. btw.) WHen it worked, it was a DREAM. Push email. Full PDA. SMS w/ QWERTY keyboard. Internet browser. MP3 Player. Every-flippin'-thing.
But then, the dream was over. It started locking up at random times. It began locking in the "ring sequence" on incoming calls. It would reset at random times. No matter what I did (I even pulled all of my software and files from it) it would never work correctly. I found a support group to console my pain. I found many more Treo victims suffering right along with me! I struggled with it for a couple of months and enevitably cast it to the pits of hell! I released the demons and the majority of it's circuitry on the tile floor. I still feel like I gained something that day.
There's my rant. Good luck to ya.

I just got a Cingular 8125 as a PDA/phone, and so far I really like it. Bluetooth, mp3 ringtones, internet, email ... it does what I want.
I have no experience with the Treos. I've heard good things about the Treo 650, and not so good things about the 700W.
The HP iPaq phones, (at least a 1.5 years ago) were handmade by Satan himself just to drive people crazy.

Sounds like a good excuse to just get your ar** to the Auld Dubliner and see how many Guinness it takes to make you like the Telefono de Diablo. O'Neille

I didn't have a day like you had.....but this entire WEEK has just been horrible.
Everything that could go wrong did go wrong....in several areas of my life.
I came into work early today hoping that I could just get this week out of the way. That's sort of silly.....
Anyway, last night I laid down at the end of the day and BOTH cats climbed up on my chest, laid down, and started purring. I thought....oh, this is special.
What would I do without my cats? They are always there to remind me that all is not lost.
I'm hoping next week will be better.....
Good luck with your phone! I have never used my phone for much because I have this fear I will drop it and all my data will be lost.

as such it will be going back ASAP.
I guess I dont REALLY need a PDA...just thought it would be convenient is all...
Razrs are only 49.00 ....that would give me about 60.00 back to go to the Auld Dub tonight!!

Oh yea, I've had those. I've had to repair irrigation system wiring that was dug up, clean fountains that had soap put in them and this was just on a Monday. Plus the usual headaches faced by being both forman and designer.
Like pbpersson says- "What would I do without my cats? They are always there to remind me that all is not lost."

My wife works for a cell company in Canada, and the Razr is the only phone she won't even consider owning. She says it is really popular, but full of problems from the manufacturer. Just a warning. I hope the weekend is better for you.
As for cats.......no comment.

I've seen more razr's break than work.
Personally, I would suggest getting the simplest phone with the least amount of features...so long as they are the ones you need!
oh, and do your research on the internet. Most sales people at cell phone stores don't even know how to operate half the phones they sell!
