Tartan ID please
I just bought this kilt on e-bay, still waiting for it to arrive. I have not been able to identify the tartan and would really prefer to know about the tartan before wearing it. Considering that I have only a small amount of Irish heritage, I think it is only proper to know what I am representing when wearing a particular kilt.
Also, does anyone have any idea whether I have just ripped myself off with this particular kilt? I know the name is pretty well respected, but I was a bit suprised at the low amount of bids and that has made me a bit nervous.
The Kilt in question
Thanks for the help!

It looks like Clan Kennedy in weathered colours to me and Geoffrey Tailor is one of the most respected names in Highland Dress, so no you haven't ripped yourself off, you've got yourself a great buy.
The Kilt is my delight !

I don't know what the tartan is, but coming from Geoffry Tailor it has to be high quality.

You are right in that the kiltmaker is indeed highly respected. I have a number of their kilts.
It is always difficult to tell from photos, but this one appears to be in excellent condition, which is good and, apart from the slight staining of the lining, seems to show little sign of being much worn - the straps look quite new. The telephone number on the Geoffrey (Tailor) label indicates to me that this kilt is probably about ten years old - the Edinburgh dialling code is now O131 !
As for the tartan, I am currently stumped - but give me time! One thing, I very much doubt it is Irish! 'Kennedy Weathered' is a strong possibility, as Freddie suggests, but it will be the Scottish Kennedys rather than the Irish.

It looks like you lucked out and actually got a really good quality kilt on ebay. We see a lot of rubbish being passed off as a kilt on there, but you got the real deal.
freddie nailed the tartan by the looks of it.

Wow!
You guys are amazing! I dont think I could have done that on my own. I looked through tartans yesterday until my eyes crossed.
I, also, was very suprised to find a good kilt on ebay. Its description was a bit odd and obviously done by someone with a very limited knowledge of kilts. They say it is a "one size fits all." Yeah, I dont think kilts ever fall into that category.
I'll try to post some pictures when it arrives.

Yep, you found yourself a jewell. Good hunting, I like seeing members trophys from their hunts. O'Neille
