2007 Kilt Kamp
Hear ye, hear ye.
At the Philly Kilt Night last month Barb T. grabbed me first thing and wanted to set the details for Kilt Kamp 2007 in Victoria, British Columbia. For those of you around last year, you'll remember that there were discussions of a 2006 kamp here in BC, but we could not pull it off then.
We are proposing a 5-day Traditional Kiltmaking course held by Barb running from Thursday, June 21 through Monday, June 26. In addition, there would be a Kilt Night held on the weekend and possibly classes on Casual and Contemporary Kiltmaking, Wearing the Kilt, History, and any other subject the attendees would like. The other classes would be dependent upon our being able to recruit teachers, mentors, lecturers, etc., from the kilted community.
Only those interested in Barb's course would need to be there for the full 5 days.
We need to know what type of interest there is out there for (a) participants and (b) instructors/etc. There would be a fee to attend, to offset the costs associated with putting on the Kamp. How much of a fee would be dependent upon the numbers attending.
As noted above, the Kamp would be held in Victoria, the capitol of British Columbia. Beautiful weather, lots of flowers -- very picturesque and popular with tourists. Victoria is on Vancouver Island (not to be confused with the city of Vancouver, across from us on the mainland). Come for the full five days of the Kilt Kamp, or just the Kilt Night.

Will I be certified as a master kilt maker after this kilt camp?
Regardless of which, I still will be interested if I have the resources to get myself out there. If people are interested in touring Vancouver, I can be the guide and show you around.

Steve and Barb,
I would love to do this er....BUT ( I know you knew there was a but coming...)
I have no patience with the sewing machine nor with fine detail work. I WOULD come for the kilt night but this corresponds with the time we plan to be in Scotland next year. I hope this comes off well and we'll send email greetings from Ferintosh to spur everyone along.
Good Luck!!

Steve,
I believe you can count on both my wife and myself. Right now I've got to check the schedule.

I would love to go to camp. I've never been, other than in the capacity of counselor and lifeguard. The only job I ever got fired from was a church camp and I was a volunteer. I guess I was just too much of a bad influence. That being said, am I still welcome? O'Neille
P.S. I'd probably integrate this with a trip to WSU and friends in Washington State. Maybe a jaunt home to Alaska. I would like to know who is bringing children. My daughter will be seven by then.

June through first half of July, and I'm *very* likely to be there. Later on in the summer is more doubtful.
