I had mentioned this to some of the guys in DEKS and told them I'd post a link. W.C. Handy Music Festival Every year in and around Florence, AL they have the W.C. Handy Music festival. It's a week long event with lots of great blues and jazz music. They haven't updated their website to show who's performing yet, so I hope they get that up soon. Handy was born in Florence then later moved to Memphis. Also the area is famous for the "Muscle Shoals Sound" of the late 60's and 70's. Lots of great music was created in these little towns. If anybody thinks they can make it over for any of the festivites let me know.

Handy also gave us one of the greatest songs ever, St. Louis Blues, as well as the name of my favorite hockey team! Go Blues! Todd
I was telling the guys in Memphis that Handy was born in Florence, and Sam Phillips was as well. Percy Sledge (When A Man Loves a Woman-the good version not that Michael Bolton crap) grew up in a little town about 20 min from where I live and the man that produced that song was my managerial accounting teacher in college.
I just checked the date I won't be able to make it this time. I know we spoke about it. I guess the fact the date was so close did not "sink in."
There's always next year. We'll have to start planning sooner.
