    Coldstream Guards

Back in the early 1990's, my wife and I were able to see the Coldstream Guards band perform. I can't remember for sure, but I think it was only a pipe and drum performance and I think they were kilted. I took photos, but after three moves, I can't find them.

Does anyone know what tartan the Coldstream Guards wear, if any?

    Thanks,

    Kent

They don't wear tartan. The Pipers of the Scots Guards wear Royal Stuart, however.

There are five Guards regiments in the Household Division, btw:

    The Coldstream Guards
    The Grenadier Guards
    The Scots Guards
    The Irish Guards
    The Welsh Guards

    Regards,

    Todd

See my post above. The Coldstream Guards do not have a pipe band.

Thanks for the information. I found a pin that I bought at the time. It is a Coldstream Guards pin. Talking to my wife, she remembers them playing with "The Queen's Own...something." This may be the pipe band I remember. Would this be The Queen's Own Highlanders?

I'm off to research this now.

    Thanks,

    Kent

I was with Queen's Own Deserters, we didn't have a pipe band. Nobody was around long enough to pick up a set of pipes.

Yep. I actually have a program from that tour -- it was back in 1991, right after the First Gulf War. I'm looking at it right now. My grandparents sent it & a tape to me; they went and saw them play at the Sundome in Sun City.

The Queen's Own Highlanders were amalgamated with the Gordons in 1994 to form the Highlanders, which is now part of the Royal Regiment of Scotland.
