New take on a kilt jacket

So I was sitting around thinking about kilt jackets. I love the look of a traditional kilt jacket and kilt but I was thinking what else could a kilt jacket look like. I started doodling and thinking - thinking and doodling. I came up with a sketch that I liked so I dropped by the local thrift shop where I found a simple patch pocket tweed jacket just my size.

$2.00 later I was out the door and on my way home. After removing the pockets and chalking the idea out on the jacket I came up with a cutting template so things would be symmetrical. A few hours at the sewing machine and hand stitching the lining back in place and I was done. I view this as a "proof of concept" project. I'm pretty satisfied with the idea - it reminds me of a swallowtail style jacket which I think has a nice line to it - but I'm interested in seeing what you all think of it.

    Now for the photos...

    Phil,

I like the lines in the back. Different, but it works. I think the jacket would look better worn open though.

    Cheers

Love it, I'm pretty sure that I can replicate your design. Will definately try it out with an old brown tweed this Sunday.

Well done Phil, I really do like it, however I do agree with Jamie, generally kilt jackets do look better left open, in my opinion.
