    Wandering sporran problem

I recently bought a Celtic Knot Day Sporran from USA Kilts - I believe it's a Buzz Kidder. This sporran is one of the best I have ever owned, thank you again Rocky.

However, I'm having a small problem with it. I use it with a leather sporran strap because the chain can wear/damage the kilt fabric. This sporran always seems to ride to one side while walking and I'm constantly moving it back to the middle.

Anyone else notice this with a Buzz Kidder sporran? If so, what advice do you have to stop the sporran from "wandering" to one side?

I was thinking about getting a sporran strap from Oconee Leather Works that has the easy-open triggers that attach to the D-ring.

You could always try a small piece of velcro on the back of the sporran.

I've been wearing Buzz's sporrans for 6 years, give or take, and have never had that problem.

As for the "trigger-release" sporran straps, I feel like they could wear the kilt in much the same way as a chain can. I would suggest rigging some kind of stop, that can be attached to the sporran belt, between the two loops on the back of the sporran. Maybe even as little as tightly winding a couple of rubberbands around the sporran belt, such that they are located just to the inside of each of the loops in the back of the sporran. You wouldn't be able to see them, and they might create enough friction to stop the sporran from migrating to one side.

    Just a thought.

Very good ideas. I can't believe I didn't think of either of them.

I doubt the problem is caused by the sporran belt. It's probably more likely that you are wearing your sporran too low. Tighten the belt up a hole or two and see what happens.

I have never had this problem. Like CavScout says - me thinks it's too low!

I love my toggle snaps for the d ring and have never had any issue with them wearing on a kilt. I say go for it if you want to buy a sporran belt with them.

No, it's not a problem with the sporran belt, it has to do with the metal eyelets that the sporran belt passes through, they're square and large enough that the belt moves freely through them. If I tighten up the belt, then the sporran is in the way when I sit down, the top of the sporran is only a half hand below the bottom of the kilt belt.

I have a pair of sporran suspenders from USAK and they work great, they don't allow the sporran to move much. I suppose I'll stick with them.

Has Buzz stopped including a pair of leather loops, below where the metal eyelets are attached to the sporran? Both of my Buzz Kidders have seperate leather loops, specially for use with an all leather sporran belt.
