    Do any members wear....?

    THE GREAT KILT?...or breacan fheilidh
I have looked through lots of photos on the forum, but would be interested to know if anyone has bought enough tartan to form the Great kilt.
I know it's not practical for normal everyday use, but it would be great to see it in use.

I have worn them, but only in the winter. They are practical garments if a drawstring is added to guide the pleating, or if the pleats are sewn down at the belt line. I don't have pictures, though. Mine are all having the drastring added right now... I hope.

The amount of fabric you need varries by your... bigness. I can get away with three to four yards, or meters, without any problem )That's double wide fabric.)

Also, mine are made from generic paterned fabric that is probably ten Oz fabric. It is a wool blend fabric, but not too bad. Got it on a closeout type deal, (they were about to throw it away.)

I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…

I would like to mention that I changed the sporran chain belt for a nice leather one.
As a matter of fact, I do not wear chain belts any more. They seem to be synonymous with bad taste.

I'm thinking of getting one, not now, but in the future.
