I've finally got my grubby paws on my Inversnaid sporran from the Scottish Tartans Museum gift shop. http://giftshop.scottishtartans.org/sporran_fb.html
It's late and I'm really tired so in lieu of a full review I'll just paste what I e-mailed to Matt Newsome...
"...I was able to get
to the FedEx center today to pick up my sporran. What
can I say, it's beautifully made and as great as
everyone has been saying. I was slightly taken aback
at how small it was (about the size of my Buzz Kidder)
but the side panels really let it expand quite a bit.
The biggest plus is that I can finally get my big
mitts completely inside my sporran. The wide mouth is
perfect. That feature was the main reason I chose to
buy the Inversnaid in the first place. I'm inclined
to carry as few items as I can get away with so the
smaller size is just fine. I'm not as fond of
sporrans that are so big they cover most of the kilt
apron anyway. The knot and loop closure is going to
take some practice to work one handed but I'll bet the
leather will soften over time making it easier to use.
I absolutely love the belt. It was not as tricky to
don as I was expecting. Though it's a bit stiff, I'm
sure time and wear will break it in. Thanks for
another great transaction..."
Here are a few pics I quickly snapped tonight. I'll do my best to get some pics of me actually wearing the sporran ASAP.
