Mid-Range Cost for Inverness Cape?
Does an Inverness style cape of mid-range cost exist? Searching around I can find the cheaper nylon or plastic rain gear style that cost in the $50-$100, or I can find the $700-$800 ones. Is there nothing in between these two extremes?

Just because you are paranoid doesn't mean they aren't out to get you.

vmac obviously is telling you she makes them so PM her to get her price list etc.
I bought mine custom made from an on line costumer named www.twinrosesdesign.com , and mine, in a very heavyweight tweed of grey on black, lined in the bodice, in my large size and great length (6'5" and mine goes to about 6 inches off the floor), with a custom closure (upgrade) only cost around $400. You can get them for less, obviously with different specifications. Check them out. I know that at least one other xmarker bought one of their off the rack stock versions for $250 in basic black wool melton, and he absolutely loves his.
I bought mine when I lived in Phoenix (not a lot of use for one there) and have since relocated to Louisville, Kentucky, but the weather her has not been quite cold enough to warrants use yet. Will probably break it out on our next kilt night in a couple weeks if it stays cool till then.
One of these days I will get around to posting some pics of it, but you can see one nearly identical to mine at the website (she made a duplicate of mine with the same fabric when she made mine last spring).

Just went back to their website to verify and their prices have dropped and they have two in stock---one in black wool melton and the one in the grey/black tweed like mine. Each are only $199, if the sizes are right for you.

And scroll down the page about halfway to find the "Dickensian" or Inverness style cloak.
Enjoy.

Another possibility is the oilskin (waterproof) Inverness style storm cape made by Empire Canvas Works. Matt Newsome reviews it here.
