    new pics

Hey guys, I decided to have my girlfriend snap a few new pictures since you guys didnt like the other ones. I got rid of the hat and the tartan neck tie as requested. Tell my what you guys think. Do these look any better? Also would this work well at a formal dinner or something? Minus the fly plaid anyways. thanks guys...

Looks good from here. Plaids, to me, seem pretty formal, I've only really seen them on grooms at weddings in Scotland although they seem more popular stateside.

The casual outfit I have been building has a lot of black in it too so it's nice to get a small impression of what mine will look like. Thanks!

Looks good. Before there was just too much tartan. The only suggestion I have is if you're going to dress that formal I'd get cream or white hose. With those you'd be able to notice the ghillies a bit better.

Pretty formal from my point of view. Looks nice though. And I think that I disagree with the cream/white hose. With the black shirt, I think that light hose would clash.

Better overall balance, I'd say. I like the black hose with the black shirt, and that red tie has a lot of punch. Lookin' sharp!

A bow tie would really make it look finished. Especially w/ the formality of the outfit. It did make me want to get working on my red fox sporran. O'Neille

Oh, that sporran ... how to put this? The sporran is the sort that would cause an angry God to send some sort of disaster -- like an earthquake -- to try and shake some sense into you. The sporran clashes with everything, including itself. The rest of the look says, "sleek, hip;" the sporran says just the opposite.

Is it dressy? In a business-dressy sense, yes. Is it formal? No. You really do need a black tie to make it formal. Which means a different shirt -- not necessarily white, but certainly not black. The tie you have now is a close enough match to the red in the tartan, so it's okay.

Did you have a formal dinner in mind? Maybe a Burns' Supper in a few months?

Not to change the subject, but if you made a sporran large enough to hold a beer can, would it be a Redd Foxx Sporran? Hmmmmm
