Today I´m going to visit the Neanderthal Museum in Mettmann, the site of the first neanderthal remains found. They now have the reconstruction of Wilma, a neanderthal woman, dressed in: Yes, Trousers! http://www.wz-newsline.de/?redid=470273&b=2 (better photo)

So Neanderthal women wore pants... Um, what did Neanderthal men wear?
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose… Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…
A very early precursor of the kilt, of course: loincloth!
Well... I guess they knew what they were doing. I think that would count as a pleated canvas, or leather, man skirt...

Just tells you who wears the pants in that family. Now I am not sure that phrase has the same meaning for me anymore.
