i must admit i`d never heard of this side of Scots history either, it was a wee eye opener ,Ive heard of Scots plantation owners having slaves but until 60 mins ago i never knew about the Scots slaves that they sent there and how they where soo badly treated ,
for me it makes it look like all those sent to the other colonies had it easy compared to these folk

They must have felt they'd fallen off the face of the earth. I hope the doc will be broadcast stateside, but if not, perhaps it will eventually be available on DVD.

A sad day in history, to be sure. There were Irish slaves as well.

And the $64,000 question is: after they arrived in Barbados, what did they do that prevented them from achieving manumission?

that was the home they knew and lived in many have no idea of there ancestors as most didn't speak of it , its like asking alot of African Americans there heritage how many folk know which part of Africa they came from
Scotland would've just been a distant unknown island to barbados folk ....you`d really need to see the program or research some more to understand to be honest its not like they are still slaves
