A little disappointed in the XMTS rabble today...
I really didn't want to post this. Maybe it's because I'm having an (otherwise) crappy day, but I do need to get this off my chest because it's been bugging the heck out of me. It's nothing MAJOR or anything, but I feel like I need to point something out.
Normally, the XMTS rabble is a very friendly, outgoing, helpful bunch of people. Goodwill and acts of philanthropy and charity are fairly common, but I would also HOPE that this is not just a selective attitude that applies only when it somehow benefits them or pleases them.
I won't mention names or details, but the regular readers will know exactly what I'm talking about... Recently, we had a new person offer some advice on another forum in XMTS. What he had to say was not received very positively, with many members disagreeing with his take on things.
This is all fine. But just because I do not espouse the same values as another XMTS member does not mean that I should slight them or give them the cold shoulder. That just smacks of a high school clique where if you aren't like the rest of the group, you may as well just take a hike. Not very neighborly or friendly. I would HOPE that this group would aspire to being welcoming and friendly to new members even if they make life choices you don't necessarily agree with.
I remain friends with MANY people in real life (and online), and when we encounter issues, sometimes we just have to be grown-up enough to say "let's just agree to disagree." In fact, sometimes I wonder if there aren't more issues that I DISAGREE with my friends about than the ones with which we find common ground.
The reason why I bring this up is because I was sent a PM that brought this fact to light, and I felt compelled to pass along the message. Again, my point is not to single anybody out and I'm being vague on purpose. But this might be some food for thought. Take it for what it's worth or ignore it -- up to you. After this post, I won't speak about it again either.
Thanks for reading my rant.
Jim

Well... Hope you get to feeling better, CDNSushi.
I tried to ask my inner curmudgeon before posting, but he sprayed me with the garden hose…
Yes, I have squirrels in my brain…

Hmmm. It'd be nice to know some details so we can all join in and feel thoroughly ashamed of ourselves.

Yes, exactly. As a fairly regular visitor I haven't a clue what you're talking about. Without that I must assume I, too, am tarred with this brush. I'm sure I'm not but it does seem that way.

If anyone is genuinely concerned (and not just morbidly curious) about the details, then I would welcome them to send me a PM. I would really rather not get into it in the open forum. No need to create an "accident scene."
For those who are only passing by, then just take my post as a mild rant/reminder to be friendly to the newbies, (especially when it's clear that they have been invited to join XMTS by an existing member).
We want people to fall in love with this place for the same reasons that drew us in the first place -- a great sense of community and fellowship.

LOL
Put me in the "just morbidly curious" category.
I do hope your day gets a little better...

CDSushi,
Your post is rather vague and leaves one with apprehensive feelings without any understanding of the situation that has troubled you.
If you have a concern about how a new member was treated on XMarkstheScot could you please contact the Moderating Staff by PM?
We can then review the situation and make an announcement or take action as appropriate. As it is we are left in the dark as much as any other member.
As a reminder to All
All here please remember this is a family friendly and polite community and newcomers should be welcomed accordingly. I am happy to say that that has been my experience with the forum.
As XMTS does accumulate its fair share of spammers and trolls, possible problems or issues with a new member should be reported to the Moderating Staff. Allow us make the call on the member.
Sincerely
The Mod Squad
P.S.
As this thread is so vague it has been decided to close the thread, the ambiguity of it leaves only room for more hurt feelings and speculation.
