    Kilted walk in the mist.

This time of year, we get a mixture of fog and rain. The cliffs where I walk in the mornings become almost magical when filled with the mist and the sound of the surf crashing on the rocks below. This morning was one of those mornings. On days like this, I prefer to wear the great kilt instead of my tank. My nine year old asked me one day why I like the great kilt for these mornings. I explained it was comfortable, but the main reason was it just feels right to wear it in the mist. His response was "Dad, it looks right too." Having said his peace, he headed off to play Fable on his computer.

My only companion on the path this morning, turned out to be a white tailed deer.

I didn't carry a camera today, but I have posted a couple of photos from a similar morning.

    Great photos!

I, too, went for a walk in my kilt this morning but, sorry, no photos. It was along the River Coquet beside Warkworth Castle in Northumberland in the English north east. There was a mist hanging on the water and dappled, peach-coloured sunlight was streaming through the trees in their full autumn glory. Yellows, oranges and burnt umber mixed with greens of every hue.

On the river there were ducks occasionally soulfully quacking. The sound travelled so far it was if I was in a canyon. Underfoot were damp leaves after an overnight shower and the riverbanks smelled that mousy smell of hemlock and the anise of wild fennel.

As I walked out from under the trees that lined the bank on my side, a heron was plopping its head in and out of the water doing its fishing from an exposed rock. All was calm and I was heady with the beauty of it all.

    The Goddess is good.

Great stroll place. Nothing like a walk in the "country" I think.

I agree it would give a nice balance to the photo. I need to pack a tripod to be able make that shot. Simple thing to do, I just don't seem to think about it when I head out.
