Kilt salesman wannabe
This man has been bugging a kilt dealer for a long time for a job, and finally the kilt dealer looks at him in disgust and says, "Look, I'll make a deal with you.
I've got one kilt that I just haven't been able to sell -- that purple, red, and green thing in the corner. If you can sell it while I'm out to lunch; you can have a sales job here for life!"
And with a smug smile he goes to lunch. He comes back and the man runs up to him, exclaiming:
"I sold the kilt! I sold the kilt!"
The owner looks at him in dismay -- the man's clothes are ripped and torn all to hell, his face is scratched and bruised and bleeding.
The owner says, "What happened; did the customer put up a fight!?"
The man quickly replies,
"Oh, no; not at all -- but his seeing eye dog was very annoyed"
Jimbo
"No howling in the building!"

All those who got as far as " that purple, red, and green thing in the corner" and then spent 5 minutes trying to figure out what tartan it is....... raise your hand

So, Tony, what are the main contenders for that tartan? ;)

First off the top of my head would be IoS, which I think, however, would sell itself. Not sure of a particularly hideous tartan in those major colors, but we may find out soon.

My hands are down.
Though after reading FM's post about IoS, maybe the cheap variant Bright Skye with a splash of red would do the trick.

Yeah, I pretty much think "IoS" whenever I hear "purple."
But then, with the last name Hays, and growing up in the '60s, "Purple" was my nickname...

First thought through my head:
Second thought: "Wait - dogs are red-green colorblind ... how ugly was this thing, that a dog who only saw it as gray stripes would react like that?!"
