    Post Bruce clan contact help

i wonder if any of the xmarks may be able to help me or point me in the right direction

im after a contact for the Bruce clan that will verify a connection with a ancestor of mine my great times seven grandfather George Bruce and his wife Anna Sutherland married in 1709

basically i want to let them know they had two sons and not one son as stated on the family of Bruce .org website

i contacted the Bruce genealogical forum about 2 years ago regarding this but i got no reply at all from any of the various members of the forum i emailed various so called clan members and still nothing ,the past few weeks Ive started filling in the gaps on my tree and would like this issues settled so i can carry on with other surnames

Ive got all the paper records from Scotland people .gov back to George and Anna but as i said any Bruce site fail to mention there son john Bruce (my great times six grandfather) just there other son Robert i was hoping they`d correct this new find,
i dont know if it would have any significance as they state most of Roberts offspring moved away while my ancestors stayed in Scotland
i just want them to acknowledge my ancestor who seems to have been forgetting

perhaps no one has actually bothered to trace that part of there family before or just didn't know they had other sons after all they just ended up farmers in the caithness area but it would be nice if i could add some more ancestors to my tree as i cant get any info from the government website

its somewhat annoying seeing my great grandfathers times seven name mentioned and not his son my other ancestors on any Bruce sites

Scott, these web sites aren't exactly run by paid professionals. You might want to see if you can find the web master and try to enlist his assistance. But I wouldn't hold your breath... unless your favourite colour is blue!

www.familyofbruce.org advertises in the current issue of The Highlander Magazine under the Scottish Societies section and indicates they are "the only such organization recognized by the hereditary chief."

thats the actual site i was looking in for data about Bruce genealogy, i noticed it had my great (x7) grand parents names and marriage on the site which its a match for the records i have ,i tried contacting them with no luck ,
thanks for that though its interesting to see its the only one recognized by the hereditary chief which in ideal for any future verification ,if he has given his authority to the site it'll mean the data found should be verifiable to a extent

    thanks lads

    Look deeper...
    http://www.familyofbruce.org/gene.htm#web
Also you could email ---> thomasbruce@brucefamily.com

The DNA pages have some trees going back to Robert the Bruce. I have managed to find the link for my family. We go back to Thomas Bruce of Clackmannan, who, if I read it right, was Robert the Bruce's ::cough cough::
    ahem...."nephew".

I'll see if I can find the latest Family of Bruce newsletter and look for more contacts. You could always join and get your own newsletter!

apparently George Bruce my times 9 great granddad is linked to Thomas according to the Bruce site so i guess that makes us extremely long distance relations

    Hi Skauwt.

Haven't responded sooner as I have no info to share.

The Bruce connections in my tree, although not recently discovered are only recently explored and all the digging I've done so far have drawn similar blanks to you. I too am loth to join some DNA adventure or to be frank, part with hard cash to be privvy to some other blokes speculations. I'd rather do the exploring myself then at least I'll know it's right.

Trouble is, I'm rather busy most of the time so I'm kinda content for now to only go back as far as GG Grandfather. I will get around to further research but I plan to drop down to London one of these long weekends and access the National Archives meeself.

Can't help with any new web based info you haven't already got... Sorry.
