Hi, Keith – having watched the ostrich stampede episode (without sound, since my office computer seems to have lost its sound card) I don’t expect to see anything good in these adverts.
Perhaps I have an unfair advantage, but I would have allowed a bird to get alongside me, and caught it by the neck. Having done that, I would try to mount it (not necessarily a successful move in the street, but possible with a leg up somewhere).
And why on earth was an ostrich episode filmed in Uruguay? Those are African birds, for pete’s sake!

Stones of Doom is ridiculous! It is not only a mockery of Highland games, but it is also a sartorial disaster.
The girls are supposedly wearing traditional outfits – but what is traditional about short skirts when they are standing on a rock where all the guys can see up their legs?
And the guys are a travesty of kiltedness. Shorts under the kilt are by no means forbidden, but these guys are almost too keen to show them off, and the guy in the jeans had no business parading in a length of tartan at all!
I will say nothing of the ridiculous plaids.

Yikes, that was my thought as well.

The whole thing was an embarrassment to kilt-wearing and Scotland in general. Granted, it was meant to be comedic, but now I see why Scots get so insulted at the portrayal of their culture. That was awful.

Come on guys...this was clearly a spoof with no basis in reality. Low budget, and not really that funny either, but I can't imagine that they meant to offend. Didn't make me want to go buy/try their product either.

I don't think they did either. And I give them credit for the attempt at humor (lame though it might have been). It earned a smirk from me... that's all I could conjure.

But any time someone spoofs the culture of another country, surely they should realize that the people who live in that culture may not think it's too funny. Especially a culture, like that of Scotland, which the media tends to portray only in that light. When you see a kilt or bagpipes on a commercial in the USA, you can pretty much guarantee that it's somehow making fun. That gets old after a while.

Imagine them doing a commercial with a similar cultural spoof of, say, a country in Africa. Where all the 'locals' are running around in loin cloths and carrying spears. Funny? Heck no, you'd hear a public outcry over cultural insensitivity.

The REAL travesty, though, is that some poor schmuck is going to see that commercial and think it's accurate. You'll see him at the next Highland Games, dressed exactly like that (including blue jeans under the wannabe kilt).

After all the other blatant errors/misuses, what was there left to say about the socks? Hose they were not.
Before they called the product Axe I used it for many years, but I stopped when the formula was changed to anti-perspirant. The pores in my armpits actually ached because they could not sweat.
You won’t find me using that product again.
