im thinking about wearing this for the games and wanted to know what yall thought? [IMG] [/IMG]
its gordon tartan with a black t-shirt i also have a green one but i think thats too much green... the hose are black with green flash's i also have cream colored hose, im pretty good with the shirt untucked look but i dont know about the hose im leaning more towards hiking socks pushed down.

I assume this is just for walking around, not competing, right?
If it were me, I'd tuck the shirt in. And stick with the kilt hose instead of scrunched-down hiking socks.

Looks fine for a day out at the highland games. I would agree with the tucked shirt comment that others have made.
p.s. what is that furry sporran looking thing on the floor next to your foot?

I'm going against the grain on this one. For a seriously casual look, leave the shirt out. I know, I know. I'm not a huge guy, but a t-shirt tucked in to a kilt can look a bit odd when paired with boots or trainers and a very casual sporran.
I like the 'crossover' that this effect gives: you get the ultra-casual nature of a UK-type garment, without losing the tartan.

If that's you in your avatar (with t-shirt tucked in), I think you look just fine. And your DM shirt is black, which has a 'slimming' effect anyway.
On a more subtle level, I notice that tucking my shirt in gives me more incentive to stand erect, keep my shoulders back, and generally 'walk taller', where leaving a shirt untucked causes me to carry myself like more of a slouch. So I keep my shirt tucked in to make myself pay attention to my posture and overall demeanor. You might try experimenting between tucked and untucked and see if you notice anything similar. It may lead you to prefer tucked!

I forgot to mention, this also depends on where the kilt hangs. Traditional kilts have a rise that comes up much farther than your standard pair of trousers. If your kilt 'rides low', as a casual kilt does, then you can tuck your shirt in and it will still look extremely casual.
Like the above poster says, you'll have to experiment, the color of the shirt, colors in the tartan, where the kilt hangs, and even footwear are all going to have powerful effects on the overall ensemble.
I'll bet that you thought this was going to be a simple question, didn't you?
