Hello, I have a sgian dubh from 1960 and it seems on the small side, was wondering if it was a childs sgian. It does have a blade (I am not sure I'd give it to a child), overall length without the sheath is 7". With the sheath 7 1/2". Any thoughts would be appreciated.
Sounds like about the right size for an adult sgian dubh.

That sound like a standard size sgian. Most child sgians were what we refer to today as safety sgian or bladeless. A pic would be nice to see
I have a formal wear sgian dubh from the Real Sgian Dubh Co and it's 6.5" without sheath and 7" with. My "Officer" is 6.75" and the one I recently got from Taygrd is 7.25" (the last 2 knife without sheath) So I would say it's an adult size allright.
Shoot straight you bastards. Don't make a mess of it. Harry (Breaker) Harbord Morant - Bushveldt Carbineers

Very narrow, which is maybe a style of the 1960's?
