The Best Day
I got married on 9-4-10. One of my reasons for joining XMTS was to better my knowledge of everything kilted for the big day. I'm glad I chose to be wed kilted and thankful and blessed to have such great friends and family that supported that choice. I really want to thank everyone here at XMTS for the great advice, tips and for keeping the kilt alive and well. Enjoy! Nigel Iles, Kansas City, Missouri, USA

its hard to keep the kilt adjusted on the little ones!

Step Mum and Dad

blessing of the tartan...we chose Royal Stewart for being linked to them on Step Mums side and for being "subjects of the crown" on dads side

True! Well, to the keen eye, you may see some things that require answers! First off, I went with a more "modern" look for myself and groomsmen, all black. Think of it as "Johnny Cash" meets celtic kilt attire. A lot of younger celtic gents go that route,ie, blacked out as a modern, sharp look, or so I've heard. Mums side is 2 generations off the boat from Eire. Dads side is right off the boat from Glousstenshire by way off the Western Isles of Scotland.
I wanted to honor my ancestry, all across the board of my family. That board of course, being Celtic by all means. We have honored our dead with bagpipes at all funerals on dads side and a few on mums. When the option of being kilted for a wed came up, it was an easy decision for me. To me, the kilt is an article of my family, history, pride and a good way to show those in areas such as the mid-west United States that that my culture is alive and well.
On to the actual kilts...Stillwater was the way to go. Stillwaterkilts was so helpful in everyway. They were even out of the "black economy kilt" at the time that me and mine started our orders on the stillwaterkilts.com site. Jerry, I believe, was very stead fast in making sure he had a new shipment in before my wedding to cover all my groomsmen. I cant say enough good things about Jerry or stillwater kilts. The ushers for my wedding also ordered from stillwater along with everyones sporrans!
Next, the jackets of my father and me. All bought from 2nd hand shops and altered by myself on a sewing machine. Then turned out great, thanks to the DIY threads found on this great XMTS site.
ps- the '57 Bently was a surprise from my wife !
