Our weekly fix

Having always had dogs, after our last one passed on a couple of years ago we decided not to have anymore. Its way to painful saying goodbyes. So,our next door neighbour lets us borrow theres for a 'fix' whenever we want to. There was a bump on our front door yestrday afternoon. I opened it to see who was there and in came our friend who wanted to come and visit and have a few biscuits n a cuddle n things.

Now, you see, if you lived here in Japan... There are companies that offer a "dog rental" service. They are privately owned "dog parks," usually outside city limits and in the countryside, where people (usually young couples on dates) rent.. (oh, hang on.., You're from the UK)... where people can HIRE the dog of their choice for a few hours and play with it and walk it, all for a reasonable-ish fee.

Some of these parks allow you to bring your own dog too, and you just pay for the use of the facilities. Others still don't hire out dogs at all, but simply provide a large, pet-friendly place to go for a Sunday afternoon -- something that many folks from Smokyo can appreciate.

Whenever I am away from home, I always manage to find a dog and their owner who will let me get my fix by loving on their dog. They seem to understand.
