Montreal Scot??
I found this photo online...
Very interesting!
Anyone know what military unit this might be?

This doesn't look like a "playing dressup" photo at all to me. The doublet is a perfect tailored fit, the hose and flashes are worn with precision, etc.
Most interesting is the small dicing on the Glengarry, not used by any Scottish unit. One balmoral with small dicing like that appears in The Highlanders Of Scotland, more or less contemporaneous with this photo.
The same badges appears on the sporran and Glengarry. One can see the boar's head.
The Uniforms & History of the Scottish Regiments by R Money Barnes gives:
The Royal Quebec Volunteers 1839-?
Montreal Company: Captain MacPherson
