Denim Sporran Prototype
I just made a casual sporran out of black denim, with white stitching. I think I'll make another one later that will be larger and have multiple pockets. This time I was mainly trying to try the pleated front to see how it worked out

let me know what you think of it, I'll post pics of it with the kilt later. I need to get some boots first though....

I made a similar one using OD canvas for hiking and such. Made tassels out of para-cord.
I think yours will be comfortable and handy. I like the pleated front. How about a button or antler disc to dress up the flap? Maybe a magnetic closure?

Pretty good so far. I've done a couple in Rob Roy style and one similar to yours. The pleating is pretty cool. I almost did mine like that, but opted for a single pleat in the middle like a cargo pocket.
I'd go with the magnetic closure or a fastex buckle. Velcro would work too. I put velcro on the outside of the flap for mine so I can use various patches and such on it. The strap in the pics below used to be a camera strap. I've fabbed my own out of black web since these were taken. I also use a buckle on the strap so it can be removed easily instead of clips on the sporran which would make noise and drive me bonkers.
Not a thread-jacking...just sharing a few ideas via pictures.

I put a pocket with velcro closure in the flap for easy access to cash, ID, etc.

There are two velcro tabs at the top of the body that allow it to open fully, but the same thing could have been done with elastic stitched at each end, but I didn't have any on hand. I can put a cantaloupe in there! The flap buckle is adjustable at the bottom so it can expand quite a bit and still close securely. I have carried my lunch in it when hiking on more than one occasion. I use this one at 3D shoots and for bowhunting small game.

I don't have a pic of the back handy. It has a piece of doubled-up nylon webbing riveted to the back with a d-ring on each side to attach to the strap. The back is a piece of 10 or 12 ounce leather in between two layers of duck to add stiffness, and it allowed me to rivet the nylon web for the d-rings instead of stitching it, which makes it all pretty solid and it doesn't bounce or stress the fabric. I stitched the mount to the outer shell first, but took it apart and riveted it through the leather. It liked to hang almost horizontally empty and bounced and swung wildly when loaded with phone, keys, and a can of dip.
Just a couple of ideas you might like to implement. I like the fact that I have about five bucks wrapped up in it, half of which is in the velcro on the flap. If it gets messed up I'm not really out much.
I can't wait to see where you go with this project.

Aren't pleats supposed to swing?
Nice work!

I may put some tassels on the front later, I was thinking about embroidering a white knot work cross on the the flap with a small wight behind it and let gravity hold it shut. with the pleats on the front they way they are, the whole thing expands and it gets huge, then lays flat when empty. I'll post a pic of it expanded later.

ok, I've added a monkey fist as a button to hold it shut, and a woggle on the flap for looks. I still need to find some black para chord to braid the strap, but it's coming along.

Looks good.
On a side note, what is on the buckle in the above pic?
