Let me say up front that I'm not looking to get a bunch of "don't worry about matching" or "wear whatever you like/want" comments to this thread. Now that that is out of the way, on to my question...

I've seen a bunch of very nice tweeds lately that I fancy. The problem is, I'm not sure how well they compliment my tartan. I primarily wear the US Army Tartan when dressing in highland traditional fashion (when going casual, my boxpleat BW wins out). I like the Army tartan, but due to the very bold colors, I sometimes think that it's so strong in color that it doesn't tone well with certain color hose, jackets, etc. I've begun to have a great appreciation for weathered colors, as they seem to go with darned near everything.
I currently have a light brown tweed jacket conversion that I think looks okay with both of my tartans. I'm posting to ask what shades of tweed people think would best compliment this tartan...and if you have a kilt in a similar color pallet and have pics with a tweed jacket, I would greatly appreciate the visual aid.

Here's the US Army Tartan:

Here's a couple tweeds that make me drool...

First, our own Panache (Jamie), WalkerK (Kent), and MacMillan's Son (Brooke) at a party in my back yard last week. (Warning: Don't look at the flat cap, Jock!!) While I am a HUGE fan of Brooke's tweed, I don't think it would work with my tartan (I want one, regardless). Jamie's might...but the plain lovat blue is a bit sedate...I'm looking for something with a check pattern of some sort.

Next, Downunder Kilt wearing his Poacher's Tweed from USA Kilts. I really like this tweed. Would it work well against a green kilt? This tweed appears a greyish green to me on my monitor, but I think it might be more of a medium grey in reality.

Finally, HRH, the Duke of Rothesay (Is this also Poacher's Tweed, or something different?):

Anybody have any suggestions for greys, greens, blues, or tans with a windowpane or similar type pattern that you think would look good?
