Morin surname
Continuing with questions about associations between surnames and clans, I have ancestors on my mother's side named "Morin." They trace back to the 1700s in Virginia, and the earliest of them was said to have come from Scotland, but no other information is give. Morin was apparently originally a French name, but it seems that some of the Morins were transplanted to Scotland, and at least one of them eventually came to Virginia.
Anyway, does anyone know if the name "Morin" was ever associated with one of the clans?

I have a database of some 30,000 surnames.
Morin, Morrin, Morran, Murren MacMorin, MacMorran and MacMurrin are septs of, or associated with, both MacKinnon and Galloway.
Whereas Morren is a sept of, or associated with, MacKinnon and Galloway, but also Mar and Tribe of Mar.
Regards
Chas

Re: Morin surname
I knew a Quebecois girl once named Morin. Definitely French (with some native Canadian thrown in). She was very cute so I'm betting her name has changed by now.
