Can't decide. HELP!
So I vended for Utilikilt's a couple of weeks back and just received a voucher that would really knock the price significantly down on a Tan Workman's I've been itching to grab, however.....I really like the StumptownKilts Brown Kilt with the large pockets and was thinking of grabbing a side belt pouch from Alt.Kilts to go with the StumptownKilt...So I also found a Brown UK Workman's online line that has only been worn twice that that owner is willing to go well below the price.
So question:
1. Use the voucher for the Tan UK.
or
2. Grab a Brown StumptownKilt w/side belt pocket from Alt.Kilt and use the UK Voucher for socks, belt etc..
or
3. Grab the Brown barely used UK and use the UK voucher for socks, belt etc...
O.o?????????

Re: Can't decide. HELP!
My thought: Choice Three- save your money & get more goodies. One thought about non-standard kilts. I was looking at a Utility Kilt in August at a Highland Games venue. I note there is no 'give' to these things. If you suffer from "too much gravity and too much gravy" it soon won"t fit, and there seems to be no way to 'let them out". I also looked at "BuiltKilts.com' & theirs seem to have some adjustment to them.
Just a tidbit to make your choice even harder(LOL)

As long as you like all you options near equally, then go for the option that gets you the most! Otherwise, get the kikt YOU want the most.
I know that is not much of an answer, but there ya have it.
My 2 cents.

If it were me, I'd use the voucher to get the tan UK. I'm not a fan of their accessories, so I wouldn't waste it on those. But that's just me.

Re: Can't decide. HELP!
So the awesome deal I found on the used Brown Workmans fell through. The owner only accepts cash & refuses to mail. Sorry not driving to West Virginia for a UK.

If it were me, I'd go for the most bang for the buck, whatever that may be. The only caveat is that you need to like what you're getting...
I had to look up Stumptown kilts and have to admit that I don't appreciate their tapered-inward apron design. I also prefer the snaps on the front of a UK. Too bad the deal on the other UK fell through...

Re: Can't decide. HELP!
here's a pleat shot (and I use the term loosely) of the tan after about six months of regular use & a day's work. It hasn't lost all of its color, but I have a few pair of Carhartts in that color and they have faded to a very light color after a few years.

as you can see, it will hold a wrinkle quite well. I have a survivor (black) as well, and it doesn't seem to wrinkle as bad. Also, with the removal pockets on the survivor, it can be made a bit less-casual, though the cotton twill doesn't seem as bullet proof (but is much more comfortable).

Re: Can't decide. HELP!
Hmm, that's a tough choice. I have a brown Workman and I love it. But it does show dirt and sweat stains (i.e. salt) pretty easily. And since I use mine mainly for hiking, that's a pretty big deal. So I've been thinking of picking up a tan Workman for the same purpose, in the hopes that it will be a little more forgiving on how it looks when it's dirty/dusty/sweaty.
The risk, of course, is that it could look even worse than the dark brown one by showing sweat patterns. Where the brown one only seems to show sweat when it dries (in the form of crusted salt), the tan one might show sweat as dark patches when it's wet.
Oh well, only one way to find out!
