    Welcome to the Partay!

Hi abdy... been a busy boy lately so I've not been around as much. (Thank goodness for that I hear you all sigh).

Thought I'd fire up another picture thread and tell you all about a birthday party I was invited to a few weeks ago.

It was a party for our friend Sarah... Apparently.

I was pleased that someone was getting a nice Birthday this year. I'd spent mine a couple of months earlier, travelling six and a half hours on the train back from work and coming home to an empty house as all the family were away on their hols without me.

When we arrived at the venue it all seemed rather quiet as we went up the stairs to the party room, fashionably 10 minutes late.

I asked my wife "Are you sure we're in the right place?" She was sure we were. I cracked the door and the room was in darkness... for a moment at least, then "Surprise!"

    You're telling me!

There were other clues... Sarah isn't 50. But then again, neither am I... in my head.

The cake alone was enough to light a city.

There was food. (Lancashire Hotpot pie, pickled red cabbage, chips an' graaavy) You can tell you're in the North of Englandshire.

    There was music.

    There was dancing.

There was "Oops upside your head..." (Y' gotta love the Gap Band to get an evening bouncing)

    Re: Welcome to the Partay!

    My whole family was there...

    Tom, my big-lad.

David and girlfriend Sophie with my mate Des.

    Wifey and daughter.

    The little lad.

There were military types from my former life who had travelled the length and breadth of the country, some of whom I hadn't seen for 15 years. (The kilt was a bit of a shocker for them as they all know me better as an ardent England supporter).

I was proper touched by the whole thing. My wife had organised it all by Face-ache. A corner of the web I don't tread so it was all rather easy really. She had me hook line and sinker!

Least I could do was say "thanks for coming".

And this is a few of the gifts I was given. Ooooh it's nice to be loved.

Glenlivet 12, Bladnoch 18 (a very special whisky), Glenmorangie 10, Lagavulin 16, Glenfiddich 12, Balvenie 12 (Doublewood), Dalmore 15, Grahams LBV Port, Yeni Raki (Turkish Aniseed Spirit).

The Glenmorangie got a bit battered when we all came back to my place at the end of the night.

Thank you Sweet Wife. A night to remember indeed.

I know you're just waiting for one of us to comment upon that devastatingly attractive lass in the first frame, but, being a happily married man, I refuse.

Oh, crap. I guess I just violated that pledge.

You look grand, too! Happy 50th, young fella!

Great pictures, John. Congratulations on your 50th birthday! You have great family and friends, and you're not such a bad bloke yourself! Enjoy your birthday presents!
