Interlude with a Welsh Kiltie in Page, Arizona
So a visiting lady and I are at dinner at the Rainbow Room out at Lake Powell Lodge. A really lovely dinner with a great view of Wahweap Bay and the surrounding landmarks. I've been coming here for 11 years so know many of the staff.
I'm kilted in my USA Kilts PV semi-trad in Firefighter's Memorial.
One of the waitstaff stops by and says he told the couple two tables over that I'm kilted and told me they are visiting from Scotland. So, after finishing our meal we stopped at their table. She was Scottish and happy to see a kilt, says she's noticed a kilt boom around the world and is glad to see it. He clarifies that he is Welsh and that he owns a hand sewn cilt but didn't bring it to the desert.
We chatted of heritage and tartans and kiltmakers.
Even as international as our visitors are in the canyonlands what are the odds of meeting an unkilted Welsh ciltie on the shores of Lake Powell????

"I'll have a kilt please, a nice hand sewn tartan, 16 ounce Strome. Oh, and a sporran on the side, with a strap please."
