I have to say that my wife has given me the best Christmas present I can think of. A fresh copy of the Art of Kiltmaking. Having the book less than 1 day has already yeilded me so much more knowledge about pleating. Most other internet instructions had me pleating a 2" pleat that would use 6" of material. I am very excited to try using deeper pleats on my contemporary kilts. I am a little hesitant to start with a tartan anytime soon, but I know that this tool will make my own kilts much better quality.
Tartan is actually easier to kilt than you might think. Those stripes which must be matched also serve as guidelines which help a great deal in keeping things straight and proper.
Wow! I am totally honored! Remember that you can always email me or PM me with questions! And get the best fabric you can afford - it's always easier to make a kilt from good fabric.
