    He Finally Pulled the Trigger

Well, Sunday night Charles got out the tape measure and had me measure him for his kilt and got it ordered. He did indeed decide on the Campbell Ancient over the Black Watch. We ordered through Matt Newsome after reading all the great reviews we had seen on here regarding his work. So, a 5yd 16oz Lochcarron is in his somewhat near future.. LOL Let the jonesing begin I'm not sure who's more excited, him getting it or me about seeing him it in.. Probably me, as he got his new telescope in yesterday and that will keep him busy for a LONG while.. haha

(Not that the scope has anything to do with kilts but this should give yall an idea of what I deal with haha This is his 3rd telescope)

Congratulations. It will be worth the wait. Matt is one of the greats of the kilt making world. Just remember to post pics.

That is one smart telescope too.

how different are the Campbell ancient and the Black Watch? I thought these were pretty much the same.

(looks like something like an 8" Schmidt Cassegrain telescope on a computerized alt-azumith mount .... I also see you have a picture of the Orion Nebula, M42 , as your pic ~ I used to be into backyard astronomy a lot years ago hehe)

DLK, its an 11incher but you got the rest right.. LOL. When he took it out (minus tripod) I honestly thought it was a replica of R2D2 haha) He also has a 10 inch Newtonian on a motorized mount as well, but he wanted to "upgrade".. He pulled it out last night and even I had to admit the viewing was amazing.. LOL The Orion pic he took with a regular ole point and click camera mounted to a bracket on his newtonian (he altered the software on the camera to be able to accommodate longer exposure times). I think that particular picture was 5 30 second exposures stacked together.. I can't wait to see what he does once he gets his hands on an actual DSLR.. haha

Also, the BW and AC are basically the same but the colors in the BW seem to be much darker shades of blue and green whereas the AC are lighter and brighter shades..

I'll post pics when we get it, although, I'm sure Matt probably has a few ahead of us, so we'll have a bit of a wait.. Hoping maybe he will be so nice to provide us pictures as he makes it but I don't want to bug him.. haha ;)

Congratulations! It's good that he got the telescope to keep him occupied and to keep that famous "jones" at bay.

He's chosen a master craftsman to make the kilt which is good and bad at the same time. Good because he will have a heirloom quality kilt. Bad because Matt is SOOOOOOO good at what he does that he gets lots of orders and therefore the waitling list is long (tell him not to worry, it WILL be his turn one day..........).
