Two New Kilt Belts from Renaissance Leather
A short time ago Shedlock posted some photos of himself in a Great Kilt. I noticed that he was wearing a belt of a design that I had been looking for. Another member let me know the source for said belt. I have gone away from belts with the usual plate style buckles and always on the lookout for styles a little bit different, these belts fitted the bill.
Well today I received two of the belts, one black, one dark brown, both with brass buckles (I love brass). They are 2.5 inches wide and the buckles are nice and heavy, and very well made. The leather is excellent quality and finished very professionally with nice slicked edges.
Price is very reasonable and belts are custom made to order. I received mine, here in Australia, 20 calendar days after order confirmation

Overall an excellent experience with Renaissance Leather

I got the embossed version of the same belt from them last year. Very nice work.

As a followup—Renaissance Leather is a regular vendor at the Minnesota Renaissance Festival and several similar venues. They cut the belt to exactly your measurement and specifications while you wait, so the fit is perfect. It's one beefy belt.

I make these same belts with similar buckles. I'm just not a flat plate buckle kind of fellow either!
I make mine from 8-9 oz veg tanned cowhide in my shop when I take a break from welding and building motors. I made two wide ones for my good USA Kilts semi-casual, and two narrower ones for my cheap Black Watch acrylic kilt. I also make my own sporran belts, and of course belts for my 3 boys, and fancy stuff for the wee lass. I may get more into this stuff when I retire, including custom sporrans and other leather stuff for highland wear. Nothing I enjoy more than making stuff!
