    belt height

    dear folks

    th e kilt belt go over the higher buckle on right side ??

    1 relative jumps over hessian lines to go American under Scottish family LIVINGSTONS and other arm ..joins the tories under ..loyal or royal americans (Hudson Valley) and ends settling with tories in north Vermont by mistake .

    Yes, the wide waist belt goes over (or almost over) the top right strap on the kilt.

    Fascinating family participation in history; thank you for sharing.

    That is over as in "on top of," covering up. Not as in "above" which would leave the kilt strap/buckle exposed. There should be plenty of photos here to show what we mean.

    Here are some photos to illustrate your point. First photo shows the kilt without a belt, and you can see where the top strap lies. Second photo shows the belt covering it, with the lower hip strap exposed. It incidentally also shows the belt being worn outside the loops in the back, with the sporran inside the loops (as is most commonly referred to as 'correct' if one's kilt is equipped with these loops).

    And of course the belt also covers the kilt buckle on the left side of the kilt too, if it has one. (You can barely see it in the first photo on my left side.)
