More UK Celebrity questions
OK, UK residents, here are some questions for you:
Andy Murray, tennis player? Anybody know who he is? Would you consider him "popular" in Scotland?
How about Amanda Holden, who is admittedly English. Who is she? Is she 'popular"? (no cheating by googling her before responding to this question!)
I may have a few more of these over the upcoming weeks.

Yes I know who Andy Murray is and yes I would think he is quite popular in Scotland.
I have no idea who Amanda Holden is. Yes I did google her after answering the question and I am still none the wiser!

Popular and popular.... They're well known, one for being on the telly (and having an affair with Neil Morrisey when she was married to Les Dennis - two more names for you there), and one of them has a discernible talent, but they're not football/snooker star or Daniel O'Donnel popular.

The Amanda Holden I know is an opera expert who has written a number of transations of operas. I don't think she wears a kilt, but her number of translations is impressive. (Opera translation is tricky. You don't only have to translate the sense but fit the music as well.) She translated Mozart's La cleminza di Tito for Scottish Opera in 1991.

Amanda Holden was one of the judges in Popstars.
She has done other things such as the series Wanted Down Under where people go for a week to Australia or New Zealand where they look at houses, potential employment and also lifestyle and then are challenged to watch relatives at home tugging at their emotions before they have to vote upon emigrating to the new country or staying in the USA.
She may or may or may not be a tennis fan I don't know.

McClef, if you know a bit about Amanda Holden...which I do, you have made a rather clever and funny joke about Amanda being a tennis fan. Not sure if you know that, but I got a good laugh out of it!

Andy Murray won Wimbledon, not sure if it was this yesr or last. Recently he said he'd represent Scotland in his sport, if it went independent. I imagine that would make him popular with the Scots, but he has the personality of a 1950's sideboard. Don't know who Amanda Holden is.

Yes I know both of them, Andy Murray has a huge tennis following because we have no one else of discernible talent. He did win Wimbledon in 2013. Our first british winner sice Fred Perry.
Amanda Holden first appeared on Blind Date hosted by Cilla Black, she has appeared as an actress in a few tv programmes but is now more well known for being a judge on Brtitains got Talent.

Clearly she is not so well known outside of the UK as Mr Murray.
Mel1721L, please remember the sticky regarding references to the Referendum as indeed should anybody else.
