Smile Not completely historical, but at least not hysterical

Attended the big Northern California Renaissance Faire today with my family. I couldn't resist the opportunity to break out the big rectangle of wool tartan and wear a belted plaid. While a kilt for the time period is silly (and the leather doublet is nonsense) I had fun and got lots of compliments.

Any day you can walk around with a lovely lady at your side, sword at your hip, and a mug of beer in your hand is a good one

    Cheers

Perhaps not completely historical, but looking very good, as usual! Would like to see the front of your targe.

Here are some photos of it (I think somewhere on XMTS there is a thread about how I made it or one of the other targes I have made).

I have a rounded button for the center when I carry about this targe in public and have changed out the brass spike for a much longer steel one for display.

Please keep in mind that I am at best a tinker when it comes to leatherwork and not an artist like Artificer or A Hay

By the by, the guige (sp?) strap is another thing that is totally historically inappropriate. Practical yes, but did the Scots of old carry theirs with one, no.

    Cheers

Ah, yes, I seem to recall seeing a pic of it before. Very nice work for a tinker. I like the two tone effect.

Where did you get your Tam / Beret? I have been looking all over for a "slouch" beret that is like the ones they wear in the Outlander show. I wear a french beret right now or my baseball cap. In fact if anyone knows where I can get one of these, please post.
