This war was the last war where young kilted recruits wore their kilts with pride while training for active service in 1939. Fifty percent of the enlisted soldiers did not survive to return home.Many of the survivors were issued with kilts for the ceremonial march into occupied Germany.That is why I was told to wear black shoes with my kilt; as a respect for the Dead....Roderick Powell.
