Interesting place you have here.......
Greetings from Madison, Wisconsin. I've been browsing this site for a year or two and have enjoyed numerous threads. Being a tweed and tartan freak, there is always something here worth seeing and reading about. I do apparently have some Scottish heritage, judging from the old branches on the family tree, though nothing dramatic other than my interest in the culture. I do, however, have a weakness for Old Pulteney and can't get "Mull of Kintyre" out of my head and have a 40 year-old, Grainger & Campbell blackwood practice chanter that I still can't play...
I'm a sailmaker by trade (former professional musician, former sporting goods store owner, former commercial balloon pilot, etc.) currently building traditional sails for small boats and old sailing canoes, so we have a bunch of sewing machines to choose from and a really good iron. Kilt-wise, I have one from Rocky, and Barb T stopped in a couple weeks ago to deliver one she built me from a tartan that I designed and had woven. With those as the standards to aspire to, I can't really say I have much desire to make a kilt, but I'm happy making items to go with them. I've built myself a pile of sporrans for fun, cut down a linen sportcoat for a summer-weight jacket, built a whole bunch of balmoral-inspired tweed bonnets for winter and I'm currently brainstorming a Barbour-style waxed cotton Inverness Cape with a light tweed liner. It's always something around here.......

Strathisla kilt and tweed jacket from Rocky, vest and sporran home-built.
