Brand new kilt - basting thread holding pleats?

    Hi all,
I just moments ago unboxed my very first kilt -- and the questions begin. This 8-yard kilt was apparently custom made for someone with the very tartan I sought, in my waist size, by Gaelic Themes with 16 oz fabric. It's pleated to sett, and was shipped with a white thread holding the pleats in place, a few inches up from the bottom. Is this commonly done, and is it immediately removed to allow the pleats to do what they do?

    Yep. Take the threads out.

Yes, the white thread is basting to keep the pleats aligned when they were pressed and also keep the kilt neat during shipping. remove one at a time. DO NOT JUST PULL!

Oh, and BTW Gaelic Themes are not a weaver of cloth.

I never thought they were. The cloth was made by Lochcarron.

It will happen! I'm still shopping for a tweed jacket in dark green. Got the shoes though.

That’s a beautiful tartan. You’ll have little trouble finding a worthy tweed to go with it. Congratulations!
